The Samoan centre Eliota Fuimaono Sapolu (ja, what a name!) is rugby’s Nonhle Charlie Sheen.

Besides comparing the IRB’s treatment of tier 2 nations to apartheid and the holocaust, he’s been shooting off his mouth in the past 24 hours about Nigel Owens being a “racist, biased prick” (tweet since deleted but widely reported on) and about how he cost Samoa the match against the Boks.

Smacks of being a sore loser, and with how dirty that match was – no-one’s taking him too seriously.

That’s the problem with being a loose cannon, ne?

Luckily, he’s not phased. He didn’t need to win the World Cup anyway.

Heaven knows why he put himself through the torture of coming here in the first place, then.

Either way, Nigel Owens got both the Samoans and Bok fans on his case for his performance last night, but one redeeming factor is his sense of humour. He actually moonlights as a stand-up comedian and singer. No jokes. What a colourful bloke.

Here’s a classic from him, telling off 30 big men on a rugby field back at home:

You can follow Nigelrefowens on Twitter as well. He didn’t reply to Eliota, but did have this to say this morning (NZ time): “That was the hardest game I have ever had to ref. Did my best and no regrets. Will review later. Now for Eng v Scot @ Eden Park.”

Oh, and did I mention that SA is his favourite holiday destination? Yes. I say he’s forgiven. We did win, after all.

And that’s it from me, for now. Good morning, and depending on where in the world you are when you read this: good afternoon, good evening and good night!
